Ole Henriksen Balancing Force Oil Control Toner

I've been weary of toners for a long time. In the past, my skin has been bone-dry after using toner consistently; and even though my skin cleared up, the dryness and flakiness was not worth it for me. But, I have heard so many people in the beauty community talking about this toner from Ole Henricksen that I thought I'd give it a chance.

What is it?

According to Sephora's website:

A pore-refining toner with salicylic, glycolic, and lactic acids to remove excess oil, clarify, and freshen the complexion without stripping skin. Solutions for: - Oiliness - Pores - Acne and blemishes This concentrated facial astringent effectively removes excess oil and refines pores—without stripping skin. Formulated with Green Fusion Complex™, a powerful blend of both BHA and AHAs—salicylic, glycolic and lactic acids—and neem seed oil, its gentle clarifying action helps unclog, purify, and minimize the appearance of pores. This refreshing toner features an energizing eucalyptus-peppermint scent. Instantly, the complexion is fresh and invigorated with a matte, healthy-looking glow.

How do I use it?

I use this two ways: as a spray and on a cotton round. In the morning I prefer to use this as a spray after I wash my face. I took an old spray bottle and put this toner in it for easy application. At night, I saturate a cotton pad and apply in it an upward motion all over my face. I prefer to use the cotton round method at night because I feel like it's a bit more intense on my skin and applies more product which sinks in overnight.

What do I think?

I am very pleased with this toner! I do not feel like my skin has dried out by using it and I feel like my oils are more under control because of it. I do think my acne has cleared up since using this product but it is still definitely something I struggle with. I will mention that this did not seem to defend against my hormonal acne when that time of the month came around. That was disappointing.

Since I have only used this for a few weeks, I am going to keep trying it and seeing if my skin continues to clear. Don't worry, I'll keep you posted!
